About Crumbs N Barley

Gord Bates has been preparing beer bread for several years as a home cook. With feedback from friends and family, Gord perfected the bread’s quality, taste, and presentation.

In 2025, Gordโ€™s granddaughter Richelle invited him and his daughter Karen to participate in the WYRDSTOCK challenge, and they accepted. After visiting several of the breweries involved, Karen said to Gord, โ€œWhy donโ€™t you make beer bread using Wyrd beer?โ€

After successful trial recipes and positive feedback, it was clear this craft beer bread needed to be shared. Gord, Karen and Richelle presented a three generation small business idea to the local micro-breweries for possible alignment and collaborative business relationship. The response was overwhelming and Crumbs n Barley was born.
